ONBOARD: Waters' fancy footwork at The Mountain - Repco Bathurst 1000 | Supercars 2021
Despite COVID-19’s disruption of the 2021 Repco Supercars Championship schedule, the event delivered the adrenaline-fueled racing action that fans have become accustomed to over the years.

Both rivals and fans consider Cameron Waters’ performance to be both consistent and impressive. Waters' Monster Energy Racing Ford GT was a highlight, earning a podium finish and coming in second behind Red Bull's Shane van Gisbergen.

This remarkable feat marked the second consecutive year Waters achieved a runner-up finish in the Great Race with the same car.

Footage of Waters' fancy footwork surfaced shortly after the 2021 Bathurst 1000, revealing the high level of proficiency necessary to finish a lap around the mountain.

“Fancy footwork,” as pro racers call it, refers to a skilled manipulation of a vehicle’s pedals (gas, brake, and clutch) to achieve smoother and more controlled driving in high-performance situations such as racing. It includes advanced driving techniques, like heel and toe, which require coordinated use of the feet for optimal vehicle control.

In the video, what really stands out is how smoothly the vehicle handles as Waters negotiates the unusual layout and flowing corners of the Mount Panorama racetrack at top speeds. At that level of skill, he truly becomes one with the machine he’s driving. That said, Waters did not conquer the Mountain track on his own. His capable co-driver, James Moffat, played a crucial role in his success.

Check out the video below to see Waters’ mastery of the heel-toe technique and how he pushes the Monster Energy Ford Mustang to the limit at the 2021 edition of the Repco Mt. Panorama Bathurst event.
