SpongeBob Camaro tops opening Supercars practice at Aus GP
Second generation racer Macauley Jones has topped the opening Supercars practice session of the MSS Melbourne SuperSprint, as Supercars races in support of the Formula One Australian Grand Prix.

The son of team owner Brad Jones, Macauley’s No. 96 Pizza Hut Chevrolet Camaro is impossible to miss this weekend, sporting a special SpongeBob SquarePants livery via a partnership between Pizza Hut and Paramount Pictures to celebrate 25 years of the iconic cartoon.

Jones was followed by Melbourne locals Matt Payne and Cam Waters, whose Ford Mustangs were less than one-tenth of a second off Jones’ fastest time.

Championship leader Will Brown was just 15th in the opening session of the weekend, as teams came to grips with the Albert Park street circuit.

Supercars returns to track at 1:25 p.m. AEDT for Practice 2, before back-to-back qualifying sessions from 3:10 p.m. to set the grid for today and tomorrow’s Supercars races.

Today’s race, the third of the 2024 Repco Supercars Championship, begins at 5:55 p.m.

All Supercars sessions will be broadcast live on Fox Sports, while Network Ten is the free-to-air broadcast partner of the Australian Grand Prix.
