Van Gisbergen to celebrate 500th race start in Townsville today
Supercars return to the scene of one of the most exciting races of the year today, for the second and final 250km battle at the NTI Townsville 500.

The #9 Coca-Cola Camaro youngster Will Brown took the race win and Championship lead with his first ever win in North Queensland, and the Toowoomba native will be looking for another win this afternoon.

Now holding a 59-point lead over teammate and former Championship leader Brodie Kostecki, Brown enters today trying to claim his 5th win of 2023.

Second yesterday was Red Bull youngster Broc Feeney, who has become accustomed to winning Sunday races this year, claiming victories on the last four Sundays of a race weekend.

A frustrated Chaz Mostert finished third yesterday and remains fifth in the Championship standings as the best placed Ford Mustang driver.

Fourth in the points standings is defending Supercars Champion Shane van Gisbergen, who today will celebrate becoming just the 12th driver in history to clock up his 500th career race start in the Repco Supercars Championship.

The kiwi, who is now a NASCAR race winner, will be looking to lock in victory in his milestone start and keep the pressure on Brown, Kostecki and Feeney in the Championship race.

Live coverage of the NTI Townsville 500 can be found on Seven and Foxtel, with streaming available on 7plus and Kayo.
