Twin Turbo 1968 Holden HK Monaro GTS
Seven82Motors has begun unveiling the lineup for its June auction event. One early standout is a “No Reserve” 1968 Holden HK Monaro GTS, powered by a twin-turbo LSX 427ci V8.

This one-off street machine has been extensively modified and fully rebuilt from the ground up. The build brief was simple: create an understated yet true 1000rwhp street car.

“Since the build, the car has been rarely driven and always garaged and well looked after, with a low 4,133km travelled since the rebuild,” says the Seven82motors website.

The original body was completely stripped and sandblasted before being mounted on a rotisserie. While the exterior maintains a factory-style appearance, there is extensive custom fabrication underneath. A subtle reverse cowl, custom-fitted from a 1969 Camaro, has been added to the bonnet along with Ringbrothers bonnet pins.

Once the bodywork was complete, it was repainted in its original Silver Mink colour. Bumpers, badging, and rubbers were either refinished or replaced. Completing the look is a set of Weld Racing wheels, wrapped in Goodyear Eagle F1 Sports at the front and Mickey Thompson ET Radials at the rear.

Inside, the car features a clean, purposeful custom interior where everything serves a function. The entire floor and boot have been soundproofed with Dynamat and heat blanket. A custom-fabricated chrome moly six-point roll cage has been installed, along with racing harnesses and mounts. Up front are new Recaro Sportster CS seats, while the rear has been split into two moulded and bolstered buckets.

Under the bonnet sits a fully built LSX twin-turbo V8, capable of producing over 1000hp at the rear wheels. It’s currently on a mild 12psi tune, making a still-impressive 850rwhp.

“It's well behaved and easy to get along with but if you put your foot down, the acceleration is almost endless and extreme, and your ears get to enjoy the balance of the deep, aggressive exhaust sound combined with the spool and scream of those twin turbos,” says the Seven82motors website.

This one-of-a-kind HK GTS Monaro blends modern performance with the timeless styling of an Aussie muscle car icon. Built to the highest standard with a no-expense-spared approach, it’s a rare chance to own what may be the finest modified genuine HK GTS Monaro in the country.
