1976 Holden LX SS Torana Hatchback Mandarin Red | For Sale

In February, 1976 GM-H launched it's LX Torana range, the highlight of which was the new Hatchback. Apart from the stillborn Leyland Force 7, this was Australia’s first Hatchback, a configuration that was to become very fashionable.

Just two variants were offered, SL and SS, both with the 3.3-litre six and four-speed manual gearbox as standard. The LX could be optioned with a 4.2-litre or 5.0-litre V8 and was available in auto or manual configurations. The SS model featured a sports steering wheel, full instrumentation, twin exhausts, full body stripes, bonnet blackout and a front air dam.

Now hard to find, this example of the LX SS Torana is in mostly original condition with the obvious signs of wear and tear throughout and is presented in Mandarin Red with Black cloth trim. The exterior of the vehicle is as you would expect for a survivor vehicle of the era, with obvious signs of paint repairs and touch ups.

The interior is all original with wear to the factory cloth trim. The crash pad, steering wheel, roof lining and door cards are all original with new carpets fitted at some point. The dash gauges work, as does the radio and graphic equaliser. The tacho and indicators require electrical inspection. The boot area has been retimmed with the factory timber cover to the spare wheel and factory spare and tools. The SS is showing 216,150 Klms on the clock and is supplied with the original owners manuals.

Mechanically the original HT prefixed engine has been recently reconditioned. The car is running the original carby and exhaust manifold and the car has been fitted with new radiator and exhaust system. The Trimatic gearbox has also been serviced. Recently fitted new shocks front and rear, reconditioned steering rack, new fuel pump, rear diff seal, rear diff brakes cylinders and flexi hoses.

Running the standard fuel tank and riding on 14" Hotwire wheels with 205x60 front and 215x60 rear with new tyres.
