1985 Holden VK Blue Meanie replica going to auction with SEVEN82MOTORS
One of SEVEN82MOTORS biggest auction events is underway with 50 amazing Collector Cars + Memorabilia set to go under the hammer on their online platform between the 7th to 19th June.

A stand out in this event is this stunning VK Blue Meanie Group A replica.

This 1985 Holden VK Commodore has undergone an extensive ground-up rotisserie rebuild, resulting in an exceptional Blue Meanie tribute that is truly remarkable. Originally a base model SL Commodore, the car was initially sold in Victoria before eventually finding its way to Sydney, where it was acquired by a respected performance mechanic and car builder.

The intention was to transform the vehicle into a Blue Meanie for his wife to enjoy driving. Although several top-quality modifications were made to the car, it was later sold to the current owner as an unfinished project. The current owner then meticulously completed the car, utilising brand new components to achieve the exceptional standard you witness today.

“Starting with the body, the entire car was stripped back to bare metal with any necessary repairs taking place. The body of the car was then file finished before being professionally repainted in the signature Formula Blue in 2020. The car wears the typical Group A trimmings including HDT grille, front bumper, rear spoiler and SS Group A decals,” says the SEVEN82MOTORS website.

The restoration includes the use of authentic GM glass, headlights, and tail lights, ensuring an accurate and genuine appearance. Additionally, all the rubber components were replaced with new ones during the reassembly process. To enhance the external aesthetics, the car is equipped with a set of 19" HDT Aero wheels featuring a sleek machine finish, which are complemented by brand new tires.

SEVEN82MOTORS website further highlights that, “Inside the car has been completely refinished to the same level as the exterior. The trim job was completed by Top End Trimming approximately 12 months ago. The seats are factory items that have been modified to resemble the Scheel items.”

“Under the bonnet is a 308ci V8 engine that has been fully rebuilt and upgraded. The engine received a mild Crow cam and has been blueprinted, balanced, ported and polished. The engine is paired to a fully rebuilt M21, four-speed manual transmission and power is fed to the rear wheels through a new differential with 3.45 True Trac centre and high-performance hardened axles.”

This car showcases exceptional presentation in every aspect, including the engine bay and undercarriage, which exhibit the same level of quality as when the vehicle originally rolled off the factory floor.

The individual responsible for a significant portion of the car's assembly and restoration has an impressive background, having previously worked closely with Peter Brock. His primary role involved diagnosing and troubleshooting any problems with the cars, resulting in a profound understanding of these vehicles.

With such meticulous attention to detail, this presents an incredible opportunity to acquire one of the finest Blue Meanie tributes in the country. In fact, even experts may find it challenging to distinguish this car from an original.
